Battle of Appomattox
April 9th, Confederate soldiers formed a line of
battle outside of the Appomattox Court House. This was General Robert E. Lee’s
Last attempt to escape the Union Soldiers slowly closing in on them. At dawn the
confederate soldiers advanced, gaining ground in the beginning, they were soon
surrounded on three sides.
Later on April 9th General Lee surrendered to General Grant. This battle was the final battle in the state of Virginia
