War Strategy
Union: There were three parts to the plan. 1, Capture the
Mississippi River. 2, Blockade the southern ports. 3, Capture Richmond,
Virginia. This strategy was called the Anaconda because it was meant to strangle
the confederacy.
Confederacy:
At the beginning of the war, their
main strategy was defensive, to try and keep the Union out, but by the time
General Lee was in full control, they begin to invade the union, but only get as
far as Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
